7 Reasons Why Introverts Make the Best Bloggers

MariaIntrovert Thoughts

Hi there! Welcome to my blog. Somehow you’ve stumbled upon my page. It must be a slow day for the internet. As you can see from the title, I’m already confident this little side project of mine is going to be a success. Perhaps I need a little dose of humility.

For anyone familiar with the Myers Briggs test, I’m an INTJ. I value logic over feelings. I hate small talk. I’d rather stay home and read instead of going to a house party. I value quality over quantity in my relationships and I keep my circle tight.

I think starting a blog will be a perfect fit for me so I always have an excuse to cancel social plans. I’m also much better at expressing my emotions through writing since I have time to process everything and plan out my thoughts and words. Also, there’s nothing I love more than getting into heated debates on politics and religion with total strangers on the internet. Sign me up for that.

Ok, enough sarcasm. Let’s get to the point of this blog and why you’re actually here. In case you haven’t heard folks, the government is shutdown and God only knows how long that’s going to last. Initially, I thought I would start this blog a few months ago as a passive income stream. But now, with all the free time I’ve had, it’s looking more like I should get this thing started asap so I can have money to buy groceries and pay my mortgage.

Right now I have 0 subscribers and my mom is probably the only one who will read this post. Actually, she might not even read it since she told me that my About page was too long and no one is going to want to read it. So I guess this will be a fun little exercise on how to write a blog post just for myself.

And that’s totally fine if no one reads this. Introverts can entertain themselves just by their thoughts alone. INTJs love challenges. We thrive under pressure. We’ve been strategizing back-up plans for years so when sh*t hits the fan, we’re ready to implement the plans we’ve had in our heads but never had the time to follow through on them.

We’re resilient in adversity. Chances are if you haven’t seen your INTJ friend in a few weeks and they’ve been affected by the government shutdown, they’re most likely reevaluating their purpose in life, starting their own business or strategizing their next big life move.

Give them space but check in on them from time to time just to make sure they’re ok. They won’t be reaching out to you first. And please for the love of God, do not ask them if they are bored. We never get bored people!

Ok, let’s get into the reasons why more introverts should become bloggers and why we’re awesome.

7 Reasons Why Introverts Make the Best Bloggers Cinemagraph

1. Introverts hate small talk.

We like talking about deep subjects like heaven, your soul, our purpose in life and the origins of the universe. The internet is already full of shallow and superficial content. Just scroll through your Instagram feed to check out all the latest duck faces and #FitFam mirror selfies. I don’t want to know what designer handbag you’re carrying or how many squats you did to get that booty on #HumpDay. I do want to get in shape but more importantly, I’d like to know about how to get to heaven and how we can help each other get there.

2. Introverts want you to live your best life.

From what I’ve learned about blogging these past few weeks, it’s all about the reader and not about the blogger. Initially, I thought blogs were just online diaries where you talk about yourself but I’ve discovered there are many practical benefits to blogging. The reader wants to know ‘How will this article help me? What can I get out of this?’ and it’s the blogger’s job to help them get from what they’re struggling with to a solution. INTJs love helping others be their best. Many are perfectionists and task-oriented. We love making lists and strategizing for the future. If you are struggling with something, ask an introvert. They will give you some advice based on in-depth research they’ve already done on the topic, their experiences or observations they’ve made that could help you. Be ready for honesty though. If you can’t handle the truth or blunt honesty, don’t ask an introvert…especially not an INTJ.

3. Introverts often have a hard time expressing their feelings…especially to strangers.

Blogging is the perfect outlet for an introvert to express thoughts and feelings they have in their heads that they rarely share with anyone besides those in their trusted circle. I have a very tight circle of trusted friends. And by friends, I mean 2 or 3 people that I open up my heart to. We value quality over quantity. INTJs are pretty good at detecting bullshit too. So if you’re someone who we think doesn’t have our best interests at heart, or doesn’t want to push yourself to be the best person you can be, we will distance ourselves from you without any explanation. Life is too short for shallow friendships or for people who constantly complain and play the victim. You can be our acquaintance, and we’ll probably give you tips on how to get your life together, but we won’t let you into our trusted circle. We want relationships that challenge us to be our best.

4. Introverts have great book recommendations.

If you ever happen to see an INTJ out at a party, we’re most likely trying to figure out an exit strategy so we can get home to that great book we’re reading. We tend to have a reading list with hundreds of books on them. We’re constantly trying to learn as much as we can about our passions and hobbies. Ideas excite us and make us feel alive. If you haven’t seen your introverted friend in a few months and it’s the winter, don’t worry. They’re most likely at home hibernating under a fuzzy blanket on their couch with a good book and some hot chocolate. You can check in to see if they’re still alive. Just don’t call them on the phone unless you’re their family or a close friend. Texts only please.

Sometimes trusted friends aren’t even allowed near us…especially if we’re in the middle of a good book.

5. Introverts are curious…about everything.

We don’t get bored. We look at the world with wonder. There will never be a time when an introvert doesn’t know what to write about on their blog. The hardest thing will be sifting through all the thoughts in their head and picking one main idea to focus on. Blogging could be a great challenge for an introvert but they’ll love the challenge. Filtering all their thoughts into succinct messages that actually make sense outside of their brain will definitely be a huge accomplishment for an INTJ.

6. Introverts are experts in their field.

Once an INTJ finds their true passions, they will dive head first into learning everything they can about that particular subject. Because of their varied interests and endless curiosity, they’ll most likely have many topics to write about in their blog. They’ll also provide great content too. They won’t state their opinion until they’ve done the research and have hard facts to back up their argument. Time is precious to the introvert. We don’t want to waste your time reading useless material on the internet and we don’t want to be wasting our time producing something that won’t benefit someone else. We have books we could be reading.

7. Introverts love solitude.

Many jobs require you to interact with human beings at some point throughout the day. An introvert can go days without speaking to anyone and be completely happy. They’ll probably want to check in on close friends and family from time to time but if they’re a blogger and at home, they’ll have complete silence to think about what topics they want to write about next, freebies they want to create for their readers and products they’ll eventually want to sell. I keep such a low profile at my office because I need silence to be creative. I will occasionally go around and speak to my co-workers so they know I’m still alive, but ideally I need quiet to focus on my tasks and come up with creative ideas. If you work with an introvert, the worst thing you can do is to barge into their cubicle or office unannounced. They’re probably in the middle of thinking about something and would appreciate a gentle knock on their door first.

So why should you read any more of my posts? Well, you can either follow what the Kardashians are doing and get expert makeup tips and be jealous of their fancy vacations or you can follow someone who will get you in shape and will also give you inspirational and uplifting messages that will help feed your mind and soul. It’s totally up to you.

I’m clueless about makeup and honestly, I don’t wear anything but flavored lip gloss so if makeup tutorials are what you’re looking for, I’m definitely not going to be writing about that.

Personally, I believe the best makeup you can wear is a smile, a half-gallon of water a day, 30 minutes of exercise, 8 hours of sleep, and a clear conscience. I hope to share more health and wellness tips in future posts too.

That’s it for today folks. Remember to check in on your introverted friends…not too much though. Maybe once a month. And, if you’re an introvert and thinking about starting a blog, just do it! If nothing else it will help you share your ideas and you never know how your thoughts could help out just one person. That in itself will make the process all worth it.

xoxo,
